For each sub-department in Homerton’s Emergency Department, we produced a pattern with an accompanying colour.

The artwork is designed to be hard wearing and sturdy, printed directly on wall-mounted trays. These trays are used for floor-to-ceiling featurewall designs, as well as wayfinding and signage.

We worked with the clinical team to write a series of infoslices carrying key information about each sub-department. These help to ensure a patient understands where they are, what happens there, and what to do next.

Infoslices were also taken into the older (non-refurbished) parts of the building, helping bring visual consistency across the patient journey.

"The use of colour to guide our patients has worked really well; especially in an area where English is not the first language. It’s also provided a fresh, bright and modern edge to our department which is lovely to work in and has given the team a sense of pride."
