At King’s College London, we tackled the challenge of redesigning a tiny playroom with minimal floor space.
Collaborating closely with the play team, we set out to solve their need for both storage and adaptable play surfaces.
The result? A multifunctional, inviting environment where creativity can thrive despite the constraints.
The centre piece of our design is a folding table. Designed in-house, it's smiley face is playful yet practical. Engineered to sit above a radiator, this table folds flat against the wall and opens to two heights.
When unfolded completely, the table accommodates wheelchair users, and when folded at the shorter height it aligns with standard child table dimensions, ensuring inclusivity for all young users.
We also designed a curved play-cupboard. The cosy seat nook is complete with a fitted paper roll, wipeable Corian core, and a removable cushion—perfect for messy, creative play or quiet retreat. Every inch of the design maximises the room's functionality while encouraging exploration and imagination.
